Thu Do is the co-founder of VNHELP and has been part of the organization since its inception in 1991. She is currently President and Executive Director of the organization. In VNHELP’s first 14 years, Ms. Do played core leadership roles for the organization in various capacities as Fundraising Director, Communication and Public Relations Director, Program  Director, and Treasurer. In 2006, pursuing her passion, Ms. Do left her 22-year engineering career in Silicon Valley’s tech industry to serve as VNHELP’s full-time volunteer Executive Director, later becoming the organization’s first full-time staff member in 2010.

Ms. Do’s technical skills followed her into the nonprofit sector: she helped create and automate many processes and tools to improve the organization’s structure, transparency, cost-efficiency, and public image. Under her leadership, despite a limited staff, VNHELP has grown from a start-up organization with a $5,000 budget into a reputable charity generating million of dollars annually. Ms. Do often travels to Vietnam to develop new programs and strengthen existing programs.

Cô Đỗ đam mê hoạt động tình nguyện và gắn kết cộng đồng. Hoạt động cộng đồng không ngừng nghỉ của cô bắt đầu từ khi còn là một thiếu niên. Cô là đồng giám đốc và người dẫn chương trình của Đài Truyền hình Tự do Việt Nam tại San Jose, CA, từ năm 1984 đến năm 1987, đồng thời là chủ tịch Hội Sinh viên Việt Nam tại UC Berkeley và Contra Costa College trong những năm học đại học từ năm 1979 đến năm 1984. Cô Đỗ đã được giới thiệu trên Hồ sơ Xuất sắc của Đài truyền hình ABC7 vào năm 2003 vì hoạt động phục vụ cộng đồng của cô ấy. Cô tốt nghiệp Đại học California, Berkeley với bằng Khoa học Máy tính năm 1984.
