The patients were from low-income families in C\u00e0 Mau, \u0110\u1ed3ng Nai, \u0110\u1ed3ng Th\u00e1p, Long An, T\u00e2y Ninh, Ti\u1ec1n Giang, V\u0129nh Long, An Giang, B\u00ecnh Ph\u01b0\u1edbc, B\u00ecnh D\u01b0\u01a1ng, \u0110\u1ed3ng Nai, and V\u0169ng T\u00e0u. Most of them suffered from cataracts while some had pterygium. Besides free surgery, the patients also received free lunch, transportation and post-op care. This surgical mission wouldn&#8217;t have been possible without the generous contribution from Mr. &amp; Mrs. Thomas &amp; Trang Nguyen (Orange County) and Son Nam Charity Group (San Jose).
