Clack, clamp, scrape.<\/em> The sound of a shovel dragging up against the dirt. On a warm April afternoon, a team of men are at working leveling the hilly grounds of Son La\u00a0 province. They move with methodical precision, making sure the land is pat and the bricks are laid out tightly atop each other.<\/p>\n<p>Here, a school will be built.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Son La is the fifth largest province in Vietnam. It is a mountainous region with rolling valleys, dense forestry, and intersecting rivers. It is also home to a large minority population, who, because of language, cultural, and resource barriers, are more likely to be poor than the typical Vietnamese citizen.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, VNHELP joined resources with Giz Corporation in Germany, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csds.vn\/\">Center for Sustainable Development Studies&#8217;s Sustainable Development Club<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vfp.org\/\">Volunteer for Peace Vietnam<\/a>\u00a0to build a new school in Vietnam&#8217;s Moc Chau district, part of Son La province.\u00a0 The school will be completed in a few month&#8217;s time, and once it&#8217;s done, it will be a space for primary school students to gather, learn and play.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/vnhelp.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/05\/banner1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-54\" title=\"banner\" src=\"http:\/\/vnhelp.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/05\/banner1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"497\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clack, clamp, scrape.
